Bottled Water vs. Tap

In our quest to save money and to help Mother Earth, the kids and I are researching the differences between bottled water and tap.
We came across this thought provoking article:

I don't know what to do, though. I really can't stand the taste of our tap water. The kids don't mind it, and when it's cold it's not too bad, but I'm afraid I'm addicted to bottled water. Hearing that it's no more pure than tap water is discouraging, and after reading that article, I'm feeling really guilty for spending so much money on something that is so bad for the environment and the world population.
One solution I'm working on is to buy those individual filtered water bottles, so I can fill them up from any faucet and still feel like I'm drinking healthier. Hopefully this will prove to be a cost-effective and healthy alternative.
